How to play
Fortuna Mahjong is a single-player Mahjong Solitaire puzzle with a four-slot rack and face-down tiles. Clear all 144 tiles by selecting matching pairs.
- A tile is free when no tile covers it and at least one of its long sides is open.
- A tile matches only an identical tile: numbers, winds and dragons, and the Flower and Season tiles too, which come in identical pairs.
- Select one free tile, then select its matching partner to remove the pair.
- Double-tap a free tile to park it on the four-slot rack, which frees what it covered; double-tap its twin later and both clear. A racked tile stays on the rack until it is matched (Shuffle puts every racked tile back on the table), and when a pair is cleared while the rack is full and no pair is left, the game ends.
- Some tiles start face-down: tapping one shows its face for a moment, so remember it.
The live counters show the tiles left, currently open pairs, elapsed time, and moves.
Six solvable layouts
Each level has its own layout — Turtle, Fortress, Pyramid, Bridge, Arena and Mountain — with more face-down tiles as it gets harder. Every table is assembled from a valid reverse-removal sequence, so the initial deal always has at least one complete solution. A different choice can still lead to a dead end; use Undo to reconsider a move or Shuffle to rebuild the remaining tiles into a solvable arrangement.
The clock starts when you first touch a free tile (or press Hint or Shuffle) and stops when the table is cleared or the game ends.
Strategy
- Free the raised center tiles early; they cover the largest part of the table.
- Work both ends of long rows instead of exhausting only one side.
- When several identical tiles are open, pair the ones that reveal more covered tiles.
- Keep rack slots free: park a tile only when it uncovers something useful.
