Word games

In Word Guess you find a hidden five-letter word in six guesses, each letter coloured to show how close you are. Play as many games as you like; on this English page the words are in English.

How does Word Guess work?

After each guess the letters change colour: green is the right letter in the right place, amber a letter that is in the word but somewhere else, and grey a letter that is not in the word, or one your guess has more copies of than the word. The Word Guess page has the full rules.

Open with a word that has common letters and vowels, then use your second guess to try a fresh set of letters; more ideas are in the Word Guess tips.

The English game uses the 26-letter alphabet and has an on-screen keyboard; a word that is not in the dictionary does not count as a guess. Each new game picks its word at random from 787 common English words, so a word can come up again. Your score is the number of the guess that finds the word, and it goes to the leaderboards; if you do not find the word, your score is 7.
